eCotton (www.eCotton.com) and MapShots (www.MapShots.com) have collaborated to provide cotton gins the ability to exchange cotton harvest data electronically with their growers. Cotton growers using MapShots EASi Grain harvest management system can provide their gins with an electronic field set up file. The setup file includes FSA farm and field identification, cotton acres and GPS coordinates for each field. This simplifies the gin’s task of entering grower’s cotton fields into the eCotton Gin System and ensures the gin’s record of the grower’s cotton fields are accurate. Cotton growers using EASi Grain are also able to submit electronic module pickup notifications to their gins. This simplifies module truck logistics, increases the efficiency of module pickup and ensures the grower’s modules are retrieved on a timely basis during the busy harvest season. Cotton gins subscribing to eCotton’s CottonHost service are able to provide module status, module weights, ginning results, and bale classification information electronically to their growers. Cotton growers using EASi Grain are able to import this information, resulting in a completely automated cotton harvest record system. This capability provides timely, accurate information and increases the efficiency of both gins and growers.
